about-imgI work with mixed-media, creating large-scale drawings on paper. My recent installations explore the experience of constructed space evoked by our everyday interaction with architecture, referencing its scale and formal components. My working process – which involves making and unmaking, collaging and reconstructing sections of the composition – aims to disrupt the representational elements of these familiar motifs, creating a disrupted illusion of space and new interpretations of the subject matter.

Born in Brisbane Australia, I have traveled extensively, completing my Visual Arts education in England and Australia. I completed my postgraduate studies in Sydney at the National Arts School and received my MFA in Drawing in 2009, where I subsequently worked as a sessional lecturer. I have lived and worked in Sydney, Hong Kong and currently, Zurich.

My work has been showcased in exhibitions in Hong Kong and Taiwan: during Hong Kong’s annual Fotan Open Studios (2013-14) and at Taipei Artists’ Village (2013). Other solo exhibitions include Drawing Installation at Doggett Street Studios, Brisbane Australia (2010) and Cupola at Jenny Port Gallery, Melbourne Australia (2010), as part of RMIT’s Drawing Out Festival of Drawing.

I have also exhibited in mainland China, as part of the exhibition New Era at F518 Artbase Shenzhen (2012) and participated in other group shows, including Overlay with Iakovos Amperidis at Tin Sheds Gallery, Sydney Australia (2012); Project: Art Journal at made.Creative Space, Toowoomba Australia (2011-12) and Block, a collaborative drawing installation with Jennifer O’Brien (2011) at Chrissie Cotter Gallery, Sydney and others.

I was honoured to be selected as a finalist in the Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award (2010), Grafton Regional Gallery Grafton, Australia and was included in the JADA Touring Exhibition (2010-12). My work has also been included in The Drawing Center’s New York Viewing Program‘s on-line resource since 2010 http://www.drawingcenter.org/viewingprogram/

I have participated in residencies at NAS Storrier Onslow Studio at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris France; Bathurst Regional Gallery’s Hill End Artist-in-Residence Programme, NSW Australia; Artspace Studio Residency Programme, Artspace Sydney and Bundanon Artist-in-Residence Programme, NSW Australia. I am also grateful to have received an Asialink grant from the Australia China Foundation to take part in a residency at Taipei Artists’ Village, Taiwan in 2013.
